Putting GDLX to the Test
Proxxima™, the proprietary resin, is an already tested and deployed subsea material that has been utilized on the Shell Appomattox project. The Goldilocks solution advances Proxxima technology for applicability beyond high-temperature projects. The total solution, line pipe and field joint, has completed rigorous, multi-phase testing including:
PHASE 1: INTERNAL MATERIAL QUALIFICATION
Significant materials engineering and formulation work. Key risks assessed were material toughness for molding, service, installation, and storage as well as hot/wet stability and suitability for robust deepwater use.
Priority activities included:
- Material engineering
- Screening Tests
- 150 °C hot/wet
- Cold, notched impact
- Cold, notched bends
- Adhesion (self, FBE)
- HT FBE Testing
PHASE 2: ISO SYSTEM QUALIFICATION
Utilize ISO standard tests along with key customized tests from materials and deepwater knowledge gained with Proxxima™ use in subsea. Key risks assessed were reelability (in thick and cold conditions), field jointing capabilities, thermal robustness.
Priority activities included:
- Large strap bends
- On-board FJ partner
- Make key ISO 12736 qualification specimens with FJC
- Build + use mobile insulation plant
PHASE 3: CUSTOMER QUALIFICATIONS
Work with customer programs and project teams to define process windows for projects and vessels as well as illustrate ODYSEA’S ability to industrialize the process.
Priority activities included:
- Reeling (bending)
- J-lay (clamping, FJ)
- S-lay (roller box, FJ)
- Custom vessel / customer-specific tests
The vast majority of this phased testing process was self-funded and is available to potential customers. Please contact us to request the exhaustive technical dossier or request a summary presentation.
